“LIFE” is the theme of artist Kao Van Khanh’s first solo painting exhibition, which will be held at TU DO GALLERY from June 6 – 19, 2008. The exhibition presents 25 gouache and oil paintings after Expressionist-Naive style. These paintings depict everyday life through the artist’s view, inviting the viewer to take a quick glimpse at people who have been forgotten in dark corners of life. Unspoken words of endurance and perseverance resonate from all the characters in his paintings. They look isolated, even if someone else is present, many of them with almost featureless faces and grave expressions. Indeed, the artist’s work is a humanist approach to the human condition, offering an opportunity to re-evaluate its tragic existence within a nondescript, nearly abstract context.
